
A 59-year-old man named Shekar, posing as an astrologer, was arrested in Tamil Nadu for allegedly cheating a senior Bengaluru Income Tax officer of gold and silver ornaments valued at around Rs 31-35 lakh. The officer was convinced to pay for rituals promising career advancement and prosperity, eventually handing over valuables for a ceremony. After the accused fled with the items, police traced and arrested him. Investigations continue to recover the valuables and check for similar cases.
