As the 8th Pay Commission implementation approaches, government employees and pensioners are targeted by scammers sending WhatsApp messages with APK links that steal mobile data and enable financial fraud. The Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) has issued alerts advising users not to download such files or click suspicious links. Official salary information should be verified only through the dedicated government website, and the government does not send APK files via WhatsApp.
