Police Shoot Dead Notorious History-Sheeter in Chennai Encounter

Thoppai Ganesan, a 38-year-old history-sheeter involved in over 30 criminal cases including five murders and a recent dacoity, was shot dead by police near Madhavaram, Chennai, on March 16, 2026. Police said Ganesan attacked officers while attempting to escape during an early morning operation. He was declared dead on arrival at a hospital, and his body was sent for post-mortem. Ganesan was a known underworld figure with multiple charges across jurisdictions.
