IPS Officer Sunil Kumar Naik Questioned in Andhra Pradesh Custodial Torture Case

Senior IPS officer M. Sunil Kumar Naik appeared before Andhra Pradesh police in Guntur on March 5 for questioning in the alleged custodial torture of Deputy Speaker K. Raghu Ramakrishna Raju during the 2021 YSRCP government. Naik, then DIG of CID on deputation from Bihar, supervised Raju's arrest. Raju, arrested for remarks against then CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, claimed torture in custody. The case also names the former CM and other officials. Naik's arrest was previously blocked due to procedural issues, and further interrogation is planned.
