The Punjab and Haryana High Court has summoned the Director-General of Police to explain security lapses following the fatal shooting of a former kabaddi player during a live match in Mohali on December 15. The court expressed grave concern over criminals operating with impunity, noting that armed assailants fired shots and escaped despite the presence of police and a large crowd. The DGP is required to detail steps being taken to curb organized crime and prevent future incidents, with the next hearing scheduled for January 15, 2026.
