Punjab Man Arrested for Extorting Rs 10.5 Lakh from Kerala Doctor Using Digital Threat

The Kannur City Cyber Police arrested Jivan Ram, 28, from Ludhiana, Punjab, for extorting Rs 10.5 lakh from a female doctor in Thalassery, Kerala. The accused allegedly threatened the doctor with a 'digital arrest,' posing as CBI officers via WhatsApp video call and claiming a money laundering case against her. The doctor transferred the money to multiple accounts, which the accused later withdrew by cheque. After five days of surveillance and despite challenging weather, police apprehended him in Punjab.
