Mumbai and Thane Police Issue Over 18,000 Traffic Fines During Holi Enforcement Drives

During Holi and Dhulivandan celebrations, Mumbai Police issued 16,727 challans and collected nearly ₹2 crore in fines for traffic violations including drunk driving, speeding, riding without helmets, and signal jumping. Authorities used checkpoints, CCTV, breath analysers, and e-challan systems for enforcement. In nearby Thane, 1,681 violations were recorded with a focus on drunk driving and helmet use. Police emphasized maintaining safety and order during the festivities, initiating legal actions such as licence suspensions where applicable.
