Mumbai Police have arrested a 20-year-old man, Ankit Shahu, for the murder of his friend Rahul Kumar Yogendra Prasad Kharvar, 26. The crime, which occurred in July 2025, was allegedly motivated by a dispute over 30,000 siphoned from the victim's Provident Fund account by Shahu, who reportedly spent the money on online gaming. Kharvar discovered the unauthorized withdrawal and demanded repayment, leading to frequent arguments. Shahu allegedly confessed to pushing Kharvar into the Mithi river to evade the debt. The case remained unsolved for six months until the victim's family provided a crucial lead.
