Delhi Traffic Police reported 868 challans for drunken driving on New Year's Eve, a 56% increase from the previous year's 558. Overall traffic violations also saw a significant rise, with 8,461 recorded compared to 2,901 last year. This surge is attributed to intensified enforcement, wider deployment of traffic personnel, and the use of breathalysers at multiple checkpoints. Special attention was given to nightlife hubs and crowded areas to deter dangerous driving and ensure public safety during celebrations.
