Man Arrested for Impersonating ISRO Scientist to Cheat and Exploit Women via Matrimonial Sites

A 34-year-old man, Adarsh Prashant Mhatre from Alibag, was arrested by the Navi Mumbai Crime Branch for impersonating an ISRO scientist and PWD official to cheat and sexually exploit multiple women via matrimonial websites. Using over a dozen fake profiles, he targeted highly educated women, promising marriage and coercing them into taking loans totaling approximately ₹89.40 lakh. Mhatre allegedly used the funds for a lavish lifestyle and has prior criminal cases dating back to 2019. He was remanded in custody until March 4.
