
A child custody exchange at an Edible Arrangements store in Mint Hill, North Carolina, escalated into a shooting incident on December 26. Tjamel Ali Hamlin II, 36, allegedly opened fire on responding Mint Hill police officers, resulting in a gunfight that left Hamlin dead and two officers critically injured. Both officers, one with six months and another with thirteen years of experience, sustained injuries above the neck but have since been released from the hospital and are recovering at home. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is assisting in the probe.
