
Assam Women's University, the Northeast's first women's university established in 2013, has inaugurated its permanent campus in Jorhat, built at an estimated cost of Rs 29 crore. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma highlighted the university's growth, including NAAC accreditation, 46 academic programmes, and initiatives to increase female enrollment. The government announced Rs 75 crore for further infrastructure development, emphasizing the importance of skill-based education aligned with Assam's economic progress. The new campus aims to strengthen women's higher education in the region.
