CBSE Advises Verification of UGC Recognition Before College Admissions

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued an advisory urging students and parents to verify the University Grants Commission (UGC) recognition of higher educational institutions before admission for the 2026-27 academic session. Following UGC's regular updates on fake and unrecognised universities, CBSE has directed affiliated schools to counsel students of Classes 10 and 12 and their guardians about the risks of enrolling in unrecognised institutions. Schools are also instructed to prominently share this advisory through notice boards, websites, circulars, and parent-teacher meetings to protect students' academic and career prospects.
