
Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) Mesra has secured a Rs 2.4 crore government grant for a multi-institutional study examining the impact of climate change, environmental factors, and socio-economic conditions on mental health in India. Led by Dr Shamama Anwar, the research involves BIT Mesra, RINPAS, BIT Noida, NIT Sikkim, and NIT Calicut. It integrates AI, machine learning, geospatial science, and clinical psychology to develop predictive models and a GIS-based decision-support dashboard to aid public health planning and interventions.
