India has received requests from Bhutan and Morocco to establish offshore campuses of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). This follows the successful establishment of IIT Madras-Zanzibar and IIT Delhi-Abu Dhabi. A 17-member committee, formed to facilitate foreign campuses, submitted recommendations in 2022. While these requests are under consideration, no final decision has been made. The National Education Policy 2020 encourages Indian higher education expansion abroad.
