The Ministry of Education informed the Lok Sabha that over 13,000 teaching posts are vacant in Kendriya Vidyalayas (8,618) and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (5,083) nationwide. Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary attributed vacancies to factors like new school openings, retirements, and transfers. While vacancies persist, contractual teachers are engaged temporarily, and efforts continue to recruit regular staff to maintain academic standards, which remain high according to the ministry.
