Over 13,000 teaching positions are vacant in Kendriya Vidyalayas (8,618) and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (5,083) across India, the Ministry of Education informed the Lok Sabha. Vacancies arise due to new schools opening, retirements, resignations, promotions, transfers, and school upgradations. The ministry stated that recruitment is ongoing following relevant rules, with contractual teachers engaged temporarily to avoid disruption. Despite vacancies, academic standards and student performance remain maintained, according to the ministry.
