Assam Plans Residential Colleges and Inaugurates New Administrative Building at Dibru College

The Assam government plans to transition colleges and universities into fully residential institutions, aiming to establish 100 hostels for male and female students to foster focused academic environments. Education Minister Ranoj Pegu highlighted the benefits of residential campuses, citing IIT Guwahati as an example, and emphasized shifting focus from accreditation to student placements and entrepreneurship. The inauguration of the Laxmi Narayan Kanoi Administrative Bhawan at Dibru College, funded by the Jyoti Lalita Kanoi Foundation, marks a step toward improving higher education infrastructure and administrative efficiency in the state.
