Andhra Pradesh Launches Mental Health Training for Medical Students

The Andhra Pradesh government, through Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences, has partnered with QPR Institute India to implement a mental health training program for medical students starting in the 2025-26 academic year. This initiative aims to reduce stress and prevent suicides among first-year MBBS students in all state medical colleges. The program, coordinated by U.S.-based child psychiatrist Aparna Uppal, is reportedly the first of its kind in India and will cover training costs for private college students.
