Six states and Union Territories, including Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Puducherry, and Chhattisgarh, have not yet implemented the National Education Policy's 6-year minimum age requirement for Class 1 admissions. While 30 other states and UTs have adjusted their criteria, these six continue with different age norms. The policy, aligned with the RTE Act, aims to strengthen foundational learning for children aged three to eight.
