CBSE Cancels Jaipur School Affiliation After Student Suicide, Citing Safety Lapses

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has withdrawn the affiliation of Neerja Modi School in Jaipur following the suicide of a Class 4 student on November 1. An inquiry found "gross violations" of student safety norms, including lack of safety grills, inadequate CCTV surveillance, absence of a functional counselling mechanism, and ignored bullying complaints. The CBSE cited systemic failure and negligence, stating the school was "not fit for continuation of affiliation." Students in Classes 10 and 12 may continue for the 2025-26 session, but students in Classes 9 and 11 will be shifted to other schools.
