Tamil Nadu Expands Climate Education and Solar Initiatives Across 300 Green Schools

Tamil Nadu has expanded its Climate Education and Cool Roof initiatives to 300 Green Schools across all 38 districts, integrating climate literacy with solar-powered infrastructure. A recent study found rooftop solar installations reduced grid electricity consumption by about 46% per school, saving around 3,572 units annually. The government launched a teacher training program to certify 4,000 volunteer Climate Ambassadors, aiming to promote sustainability and resilience in schools under the Tamil Nadu Climate Change Mission.
