Panjab University (PU) is introducing smart ID cards for faculty and staff, featuring QR codes linked to a digital database for faster security checks. This initiative aims to enhance digital governance and campus security. The rollout will begin with senior officials as a trial before expanding to all staff. This follows a less successful attempt to implement QR-coded vehicle parking stickers, which saw low adoption among students. University officials believe the smart ID system will be more effective due to its focused implementation and centralized management.
