Kolkata Cinema Owners Request Year-Round Bengali Film Release Schedule

Cinema hall owners in Kolkata have urged the Eastern India Motion Pictures Association's screening committee to distribute Bengali film releases evenly throughout the year, rather than clustering multiple films on festival dates. They cite poor audience turnout and a lack of quality films as reasons for declining business and the closure of several single-screen theatres. EIMPA president Piya Sengupta noted that spreading releases could help sustain cinema operations and benefit the Bengali film industry.
