Sivakarthikeyan's historical political drama, Parasakthi, released on January 10th after facing last-minute censor board clearance and numerous cuts. The film opened to mixed reviews and a reported collection of approximately Rs 11.50 crore in India on its first day. While considered a decent start for a content-driven film, it fell short of the opening day numbers of some of Sivakarthikeyan's previous releases. Parasakthi benefited from a solo release due to the postponement of Thalapathy Vijay's Jana Nayagan.
