Def Leppard's India Tour Begins with Song Inspired by Caste Discrimination

Def Leppard is set to begin their first India tour on March 25, visiting Shillong, Mumbai, and Bengaluru after an 18-year wait since a cancelled 2008 tour. Lead guitarist Phil Collen shared that their 1996 song 'Turn to Dust' was inspired by his experiences witnessing caste discrimination against Dalits during early 1990s visits to India. The track incorporates a sample of the Sarangi, discovered in Indian bazaars, reflecting a rawer sound distinct from their typical 1980s rock style.
