
Mark Jones, the filmmaker and animation writer best known for creating the cult horror character Leprechaun, died on January 16 in Los Angeles at age 72, shortly before his 73rd birthday. Confirmed by his longtime collaborator George Saadi, Jones had a diverse career spanning animation and live-action, including work on popular TV shows and films like Rumpelstiltskin and NightMan. His 1992 film Leprechaun became a cult classic, spawning seven sequels and featuring early performances by Warwick Davis and Jennifer Aniston.
