
Filmmaker Srishti Lakhera discusses her documentary 'Ek Tha Gaon,' which explores rural depopulation in Uttarakhand's Semla village. The film centers on 80-year-old Leela Devi, one of the last seven inhabitants, reflecting on migration and persistence. Lakhera, whose father is from the village, was inspired by stories of people leaving and met Devi during a visit. The documentary won two National Awards for Best Film and Best Audiography and is set to premiere on Mubi India.
