Imtiaz Ali, director of the 2007 romantic film Jab We Met, suggested Sharvari and Vedang Raina as potential leads for a modern reboot, citing their youthful energy and suitability for the roles of Geet and Aditya. Both actors are involved in his upcoming project. Ali previously joked that the original characters might now be at a divorce lawyer's office. He also expressed a preference for having dinner with Tara from Tamasha over Geet and explained why his film Rockstar is closely tied to its Delhi setting.
