Actor R. Madhavan has dismissed rumors of a '3 Idiots' sequel, calling the idea "idiotic" due to the actors' ages and the film's legacy. He expressed a desire to work with director Rajkumar Hirani again but felt a sequel would be inappropriate. Co-star Aamir Khan, however, stated he would love to do a sequel and that his character Rancho is his most popular, though he hasn't been approached. Sharman Joshi also expressed hope for a sequel but admitted he has no information.
