Nadaswaram Exponent Sheik Mahaboob Subhani Dies at 71 in Srirangam

Nadaswaram exponent Sheik Mahaboob Subhani, a Padma Shri awardee along with his wife Kaleeshabi Mahboob in 2020, passed away at 71 after a brief illness in Srirangam. Originating from a family of nadaswaram musicians in Andhra Pradesh, he initially worked outside music due to financial constraints. His marriage to Kaleeshabi rekindled his musical career, and together they performed extensively, training under notable maestros and settling in Srirangam in the 1980s. He is survived by his wife and three children.
