
The Pune International Film Festival (PIFF) Marathi Competition features seven selected films judged by an international jury, with the winner receiving the Sant Tukaram Award and a cash prize. Among the filmmakers, only one woman, Jeejivisha Kale, directed Tighee, highlighting gender imbalance concerns in Marathi filmmaking. Festival Director Dr. Jabbar Patel noted women’s strong presence in various film roles but fewer as directors. The directors shared their diverse journeys and creative inspirations during a panel discussion at PIFF.
