Singapore's The Violinist Wins Top Cristal Award at 2026 Annecy Animation Festival
Singapore's hand-drawn feature film The Violinist won the Cristal Award for Best Film at the 2026 Annecy International Animation Film Festival, marking the first time a Singaporean feature claimed the top prize. Directed by Ervin Han and Raúl García, the period drama depicts the history of Singapore and Malaya from 1929 through the lives of two violinist friends affected by war and Japanese occupation. The festival also honored other works, including Iron Boy, which won both the Jury and Audience Awards.
