Artists participating in a painting exhibition in Odisha visited the Gangeswari Temple near Konark. After examining its architecture and stone decay, they concluded the temple is older than the Konark Sun Temple, not a replica. They suggested it predates the Lingaraj Temple and is contemporary to the Chourasi Barahi Temple, noting its 'shikhara' is in Rekha style with elaborate external decorations.
