Universal Pictures has announced a new release date of March 12, 2027, for Mike Flanagan's The Exorcist, starring Scarlett Johansson and Jacobi Jupe. The film, described as a "radical new take" on the 1973 horror classic, is set in the same universe but is not a sequel to 2023's The Exorcist: Believer. The story follows Father Harris investigating the demonic possession of a teenage girl in Hazelwood, collaborating with her mother and a doctor. The franchise rights were acquired by Universal in 2021 for $400 million.
