Sahana Selvaganesh's Bharatanatyam production, Tied: The Weaver's Loom, presented at the Jharna festival, combined classical dance vocabulary with contemporary storytelling. It depicted a woman's journey through a troubled marriage and single motherhood, using the metaphor of a weaver's loom inspired by India's handloom traditions. The performance incorporated Kabir's poems and new Sanskrit and Tamil compositions, alongside innovative props symbolizing marital struggles. While musically vibrant, the integration of metaphor and narrative was uneven, and the classical form sometimes limited expressive depth.
