A new collection of T. Janakiraman's short stories, published by Kalachuvadu, explores the theme of music, particularly Carnatic classical traditions. The preface is by Sangita Kalanidhi Sanjay Subrahmanyan, who notes Janakiraman's strong musical background and his preference for classical forms. The collection includes ten stories, some directly about music and others about the experience of listening. Janakiraman's father was a Harikatha exponent, and he himself learned music, though he pursued writing. The stories reflect his known impatience with non-classical music forms.
