Carnatic vocalist Ashwath Narayanan delivered a concert at The Music Academy, featuring a thoughtfully chosen and unconventionally sequenced repertoire. Trained in the K.V. Narayanaswamy tradition, Narayanan's performance evoked nostalgia while incorporating his own musical interpretations. The concert was notably enhanced by the accompaniment of 91-year-old mridangam maestro Umayalapuram Sivaraman, whose presence infused the performance with energy and seasoned musical instinct. Highlights included renditions of a varnam in Vasantha and a Tiruppavai in Arabhi, alongside an Atana alapana and niraval.
