
South Korean filmmaker Park Chan-wook will preside over the jury of the 79th Cannes Film Festival, becoming the first Korean to hold this role in the festival's 79-year history. Park, known for acclaimed works like Oldboy, Thirst, and Decision to Leave, has a longstanding association with Cannes, where he has received multiple awards. His latest film, No Other Choice, has gained international recognition. Park and his jury will award the 2026 Palme d'Or on May 23 at the Grand Théâtre Lumière.
