Ravi Shankar Centre and Anoushka Shankar Refute Rishabh Sharma's Disciple Claim

Sitarist Rishabh Rikhiram Sharma claims to have been the last disciple of the late maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar, describing a close guru-shishya relationship. However, this claim is contested by Shankar's daughter Anoushka Shankar and the Ravi Shankar Centre. The Centre clarified that no formal disciple initiation occurred, citing an informal 2012 string-tying ceremony without traditional customs. It stated that Ravi Shankar gave only limited lessons before his health declined and identified other musicians as his last disciples, emphasizing accuracy over misunderstandings.
