Kashmir is experiencing an intensified cold wave during the 'Chilla-i-Kalan' period, with minimum temperatures dropping significantly below freezing. Shopian recorded the coldest temperature at minus 8.6 degrees Celsius, while Srinagar registered minus 5.2 degrees Celsius. Clear skies have led to parts of the Dal Lake and other water bodies freezing. Despite the harsh cold, the plains have not yet received significant snowfall this season, though the period is known for its highest chances of snowfall.
