India is experiencing an early onset of summer with daytime temperatures rising 4-6 degrees Celsius above normal across many regions, including Northwest India, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, and Delhi. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts above-normal heatwave days from March to May, especially in eastern and western states. Meanwhile, northern hill states may see isolated light rain or snowfall in early March. The IMD also notes a significant rainfall deficit and anticipates a hotter year due to a potential El Niño event after July.
