Three hikers were found dead Monday evening along the Devil's Backbone Trail at Mount Baldy in Southern California. Rescue crews were initially responding to a report of an injured hiker who fell down a slope. Strong winds, with gusts reaching up to 70 mph, hampered rescue efforts, preventing helicopter landings. The cause of death for the three individuals, whose identities have not been released, is currently unknown. The area is known for its challenging terrain and has previously seen fatalities, including that of actor Julian Sands.
