
Scientists have discovered two new frog species, Leptobrachium somani and Leptobrachium mechuka, in Arunachal Pradesh. The findings, published in the journal PeerJ, bring the total number of this genus known in India to six. Researchers from the University of Delhi and Harvard University identified the species using DNA analysis, physical features, and behavioral observations. Arunachal Pradesh's Deputy Chief Minister welcomed the discovery, highlighting the state's rich biodiversity and the importance of protecting its ecosystems.
