
On January 14, 2026, a construction crane collapsed onto a moving passenger train in Sikhio district, Nakhon Ratchasima province, northeastern Thailand, causing the train to derail and briefly catch fire. The train was traveling from Bangkok to Ubon Ratchathani province. At least 22 people were killed and over 30 injured, with rescue operations ongoing to assist trapped passengers. The crane was part of a high-speed rail project, and authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the collapse.
