India's southern peninsular region experienced near-normal rainfall during the recent northeast monsoon season, recording 283.4 mm, a 3.7% departure from the average, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Despite below-average rainfall in November and December, the season's onset was boosted by Cyclone Montha.
