The first full moon of 2026, dubbed the 'Wolf Supermoon', will be visible on January 3rd. This event combines the traditional name for January's full moon with the astronomical phenomenon of a 'supermoon', where the moon appears larger and brighter due to its proximity to Earth. This particular supermoon is also the final in a sequence that began in October 2025 and coincides with Earth's closest approach to the sun. Jupiter will also be at its brightest around the same time.
