South Western Railway's Mysuru Division has completed track electrification of the Sakleshpur-Subramanya Road Ghat Section, a challenging 55 km stretch in the Western Ghats. The project, costing ₹93.55 crore and completed in December 2023, involved overcoming steep gradients, numerous tunnels, bridges, sharp curves, and landslide-prone conditions. A successful trial run of an electric locomotive marked the culmination of this complex engineering effort, aimed at enhancing rail infrastructure on the Hassan-Mangaluru route.
