Heavy traffic congestion is reported on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada national highway as numerous travelers head to their hometowns in Andhra Pradesh for the Sankranti festival. Authorities have opened additional toll booths and deployed patrol vehicles to manage the surge, with tens of thousands of vehicles passing through toll plazas daily. Congestion is also noted at Nandigama due to the influx from Hyderabad and ongoing road construction. Peak traffic is anticipated again on January 18 for the return journey.
