Kashmir is experiencing an unusually warm winter despite sub-zero temperatures recorded in Gulmarg and Pahalgam. Nighttime mercury levels have consistently stayed three to four degrees above the seasonal average across the valley. This warm trend persists even during 'Chillai Kalan,' the 40-day period of extreme cold. The Meteorological Department forecasts rain or snowfall starting Tuesday, with overcast conditions observed. Srinagar recorded 1.0°C, Gulmarg -1.6°C, and Pahalgam -1.2°C, all above normal.
